Biography: T2B univers 2007, 2013. Paris, la Havane, mérida ( Mex)
Travels, meeting people, sounds, unforeseen events, people…these are the core elements which feed Terminal 2B, a never ending project, of eternal return and –nevertheless- always evolving,since its starting point can either be in Paris, La Habana, Seoul, or Mérida.El Barka Moktar “Smaino”, creator of this idea; auto-defines himself as being: Algerian as far as his tradition is concerne, French in his frame of mind, a bit of a Christian and -why not ?- a bit of a Jew. Black skin, author, traveler, wayfarer, composer, saxophonist, singer – a humanist-.His travelling vocation started in 1977. The family moved from its natal Mestralime, Algeria to Strasburg, France. Smaino was 6 years old. In 1979, he moved on, from there to Montpellier. With all these elements in his favor, he started –in 1997- his progress towards Paris, working on different Parisian stages, with various groups and actors, such as, for instance, ‘Les Frères Djeîlabas’.In 2005, he leaves everything aside and decides to travel th
e World. Andalucía, Algeria, Denmark, Berlin; Hamburg, New York; Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Thailand, Burma, Macao, Hong-Kong; Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Mexico, Canada and Cuba. It is in Havana that the idea of recording a first album –project still in progress- sees the daylight. This idea still enabled the realization of the first concert in the Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura. The troupe was formed with Cuban musicians. As dynamic as the place it took the name of (Charles de Gaule Airport, Terminal 2B), it is the work that unfolds this group –ever-changing - non subject to the usual strategies, which enables the total or partial inclusion of artists originating from the place where the group finds itself, and which also enables its links to the local cultural institutions.
